USACS Emergency Ultrasound Skills Session - October 2024

Teach emergency medicine physicians and APPs point of care ultrasound, focusing on ultrasound-guided procedures. Course highlights will be use of ultrasound for emergency department procedures, including peripheral IVs, central venous catheters and peripheral nerve blocks.

Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, PAs, RN

Learning Objectives

  • Utilize ultrasound to improve safety and accuracy of invasive procedures using needle guidance
  • Develop ability to select appropriate transducer and make needed machine adjustments to obtain key views of target structures
  • Correctly utilize ultrasound to identify and differentiate anatomical targets, specifically arteries, veins and nerve bundles
  • Improve hands-on skills for ultrasound-guided procedures using live models and phantoms
