This course is part of a bi-monthly education meeting for Denver region emergency physicians. This 3 hour education meeting will focus on the latest evidence-based updates of certain neurologic emergencies. One hour will address the approach to neurologic emergencies in general with a focus on risk-management principles including neurology-specific evaluation, management and documentation. One half hour will address the latest evidence on the management of acute stroke. One hour will be used for small group skills stations including review of 6-point neuro exam, the high-sensitivity neuro exam for back pain and ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca blocks.

Learning Objectives

  1. Provide opportunity to care for critically ill pediatric patients in ED setting through the use of high fidelity simulation followed by debriefing of case. 
  2. Improve comfort level and knowledge to care for critically ill pediatric patients in the general emergency department setting.
