Ultrasound for Hypotension and Vascular Access Workshop 2017
The goal of this workshop is for clinicians to rapidly assess patients with hypotension, as well as learn the skills to safely and effectively perform ultrasound-guided vascular access. The primary focus of this workshop will be learning to adequately image the abdomen for free fluid, the lower extremities for evidence of DVT, the aorta for aneurysm, and learning to perform ultrasound-guided central and peripheral venous cannulation.
Target Audience
Physicians, PAs, NPs, RNs
Learning Objectives
1. Identify the areas to look for free fluid in the abdomen
2. Perform a lower extremity DVT ultrasound examination
3. Evaluate the abdominal aorta for evidence of aneurysm
4. Identify an algorithm to evaluating patients with hypotension
5. Utilize ultrasound for safer and more efficient central and peripheral vascular access
