Resuscitation 2018 - Cardiovascular Boot Camp - Advanced Ultrasound for the Busy Emergency Provider
This advanced bedside echocardiography workshop in a hands-on course designed to teach, reinforce, and improve skills in adult echocardiography and vascular access. The 5:1 participant to faculty ratio limits the course size and allows for optimal teaching; every participant will have one-on-one time to scan multiple live models and confer with expert faculty. The physics of ultrasound, transducer characteristics, and biologic effects will not be reviewed during this course. This will permit additional time to gain hand-son skills, which are of the utmost importance since echocardiography and vascular access is very operator dependent. We do not wish to negate the importance of core content, but believe and do hope participants will review the materials provided on-line prior to this course. Topics that will be focused on during the workshop include:
Target Audience
Acute care and critical care practitioners including: emergency physicians, pediatricians, surgeons, critical care specialists, nurses, mid-level providers and pre-hospital providers.

1. Standard transthoracic windows (PLAX, PSAX, Apical, Subcostal)
2. Principles of 2D, M-mode, and Doppler measurements
3. Assessment of biventricular size and function
4. Approach to pericardial and valvular disease
5. Identifying great vessels and vascular access
